With the support of the Kyoto Prefecture “Kyoto Project Joint Project with Universities and Students” (click) in FY2024, we are now accepting applications for participants with the following project theme “Regional Revitalization in the Keihoku Region – Forest Bathing and Food Tour”. Deadline for applications is Sunday, September 29, 2024.
“Keihoku Gastronomy Tour”
Date: Sunday, October 27, 2024 8:30-17:00 (including bus travel) *Cancelled in case of rain
Tour fee: 3,000 yen (bus fare, meals, insurance, etc.) *Half price thanks to subsidy. Collection on the day of 10/27
Capacity: 23 people (first come, first served) *9 staff members on the day
Meeting place: Takao Keihoku Line, Shuzan direction, meet at Kyoto Station bus stop JR3 at 8:15 or meet at Shijo Omiya bus stop at 8:30
What to bring: Please wear comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes for walking on nature trails
Tour course:
JR bus travel: Kyoto Station (departs 8:30) – Shijo Omiya (8:42) – arrives Hosonoguchi (9:46)
Takimata Walk through the forest to the waterfall (150 minutes)
City bus: Hosonoguchi (12:16) – Shuzan (12:26)
Lunch and lecture on local Keihoku produce: Gibier cuisine (lunch), local produce (tasting), and a lecture on the history of natto mochi (12:40-15:00) at Ryokan Sushiyone
Souvenirs: Woody Keihoku, Kameya Hirokiyo, Haneda Sake Brewery

In preparation for this tour, two faculty members conducted a preliminary survey (click) on July 25th (Thursday), and seven students and two faculty members conducted a preliminary survey (click) on August 8th (Thursday). On the day of October 27th (Thursday), nine staff members from our university (seven students and two faculty members) will be hosting the tour in cooperation with relevant parties in the Keihoku area.
